Director of the Institute of Genetics and Animal Breeding of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Jastrzębiec opens competition for the positions of in Mass Spectrometry Technician at the Proteomics Laboratory of IGAB PAS

IGAB PAS has the European status of the Centre of Excellence in Genomics, Biotechnology and Quality of Animal Products in Sustainable Production Systems with consideration of Animal Welfare. In 2015 IGAB PAS received a prestigious status of KNOW (Leading National Research Center) in the Scientific Consortium: "Healthy Animal - Safe Food".

We are looking for highly motivated and organized candidates with previous experience in mass spectrometry, proteomics or similar analytical techniques. Candidates must have good communication  skills, capable of working in a group, and with a high degree of work autonomy. The following aspects will be preferred and will be taken into account when selecting candidates:


Technical skills required:

  • Previous experience in mass spectrometry.
  • Previous experience in biomedical/chemical research.


Additional beneficial skills:

  • Analytical skills and critical thinking.
  • Capability of working independently and in a team.
  • Good communication skills and fluency in English.
  • Good skills with office automation and data analysis software.
  • Fluent level of English


The person in this position will be responsible for:

  • Hardware support for analyzes in the field of molecular biology, ie .: A system for proteomic analysis and identification of biomarkers using mass spectrometry MS MALDI-TOF / TOF, Ion Trap LC-MS and the extraction and fractionation of proteins based on isoelectrofocusing IEF UHPLC chromatography.
  • Perform laboratory research in molecular biology


  • Theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of molecular biology in particular proteome analysis methods, such as extraction, protein electrophoresis, basic knowledge of mass spectrometry. Preferred experience in similar position,
  • Preferred higher education,
  • Good knowledge of English,
  • Good computer skills (minimum: office suite and ran the ability to find the necessary information on the Internet)
  • Ability to work in a team,
  • Responsibility, reliability and accuracy in work,
  • Good organization of work,
  • Availability.

  8. list of scientific projects financed by external sources in which candidate has been project leader or investigator,
  9. international scientific cooperation (the name of foreign scientific unit, the form of cooperation, range, results),
  10. declaration of accomplishment of international internship,
  11. international visits: scientific trainings, conferences participation (country, institution, aim of visit, duration of visit),
  12. international and national prizes, awards (year of obtaining)
